Every time I see a rerun of "The Inner Light" on BBC America or SyFy, I'm reminded of what a beautiful piece of TV is it. This is the orchestral suite that was written based on the flute melody Picard played in the episode.

On paper, Spring 2012 looks like the best anime season since 2007. There are quite a few extremely high-profile projects, several niche series of interest, and a theoretical return to form for NoitaminA after by far its worst season ever. The anime community as a whole seems to take Bakuman almost entirely for granted, but I promise you, I never will. And with episodes as spectacular as the second season finale, hopefully more and more viewers will clue in to what an underappreciated gem this is.

Nagai and Kuroda-sensei have been spending most of this series making difficult tasks look easy, so it’s no surprise that they should prove more than up to that last great challenge – the ending.
There’s not another manga writer out there with the emotional accuracy of Midorikawa Yuki, and no director better suited to communicate her vision than Omori Takahiro.

Between Hunter X Hunter and Chihayafuru, Madhouse is having one amazing season. I don’t know if I’ll put it on a par with its Spring of five years ago with Oh! Edo Rocket and Dennou Coil, but it’s damn close.
